Hi there! My name is Samantha (Sam) Clements, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) under the clinical supervision of Kim Sullivan, LPC-S, RPT-S. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology (2018) and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2022) from Texas State University. My work and professional experience includes providing counseling services on college campuses, in clinics, private practices, hospitals, and at the Justice of the Peace (in TX). And I’m an ENFJ-T personality type!
I offer a safe space to identify goals, search for solutions, work towards the future, process emotions, and support your growth and change. I feel that therapy and treatment are a collaboration where we can work together to identify goals and construct meaningful solutions. I practice solution-focused counseling with Animal-Assisted Counseling (AAC) to help bolster it. I approach treatment with empathy, curiosity, understanding, compassion, and hope. Together, we will collaborate and identify treatment goals that work for you, and focus on future change by exploring solutions together. I show up in the therapy room by bringing humor, authenticity, and support as someone who is willing to sit and be with you in whatever you’re feeling.
While I primarily meet with with teens and adults, I have experience working with clients ages 8+. My top specialities are working with anxiety, depression, and career counseling. I have expertise working with Autism, Behavioral Issues, Coping Skills, Education and Learning Disabilities, Impulse Control Disorders, LGBTQ+, Parenting, School Issues, Self Esteem, Stress, Trauma and PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Women’s Issues. To learn more about the specific issues I am trained in, please scroll to the end.
Most recently, I completed the Animal Assisted Counseling Academy (AAC) at Texas State University with my animal partner, Mabel Jean. Mabel Jean is my 5 year old female, hound-mix and she is also my co-counselor in sessions. Together we are an Animal Assisted Counseling Team. To learn more about Mabel Jean, click here.
When we work together, we/I will spend time getting to know and understand you, that way we can identify meaningful and attainable personal goals to work toward. Next, we brainstorm achievable ways to work towards the future goals and collaborate on solutions needed for change. The key is that we work at your own (the clients) pace. Typically, around four sessions are needed to identify, define, and discuss goals to create a meaningful treatment plan.
Since change is a continuous process, I am here at all levels to support, encourage, and provide resources. But ultimately, growth and process relies on what you (the client) put into it. Once some goals have been met, we together reevaluate the previous goals and can even put new goals in its place. We will continuously be working towards your future and goals until we decide that therapy is no longer needed, or has accomplished their goals.
I practice both in-person and through Telehealth.
Working through issues can be tough by yourself and can be a daunting task to start. Mabel Jean and I offer a safe and open space (in person or virtually) to identify challenges, process emotions, work toward the future, and find meaningful solutions together. Mabel Jean and I are here for you, if you need us! We look forward to hearing from you!
