OUR STORY

Mindful Connections Counseling was established in 2021 by Rosalie Piedra, LPC, RPT. Rosalie first started her private practice in 2020 and founded Mindful Connections Counseling during the pandemic, after 10 years in the public education system. As a former school counselor, Rosalie witnessed effects of trauma and disparities in place on children and families. A major disparity that Rosalie identified was awareness of and access to quality mental health services. Rosalie grew a passion for advocating for therapy to her friends, family, colleagues, and eventually made the brave decision to mindfully cultivate a therapy practice in south Austin. Rosalie continues to focus on providing a safe and healing space for clients and therapists, spreading an awareness of what therapy is and what it looks like, and demystifying aspects of the mental health field throughout our communities.

OUR MISSION

At Mindful Connections Counseling, our mission is to consciously support each of our clients through a mindful and tailored approach to treatment. We strive to ensure we are the best fit for each client and continue to grow through consultation, professional development, and listening to you as the client. As individual therapists, we acknowledge that we are not for everyone, and really find value in cultivating our niche in our practice to help the communities we are most passionate about and qualified to help. As a practice, we honor and value the diverse identities that come through our doors, and strive to provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment.

OUR CORE VALUES

COURAGE

We recognize the strength and courage it takes to seek help and be vulnerable with someone who you do not know. We value your courage in seeking therapy, showing up, and self-reflecting throughout your therapy journey. We are honored to walk alongside you on your journey and be a welcoming and attuned presence on your path to healing.

COMMUNITY

We believe that when a person experiences a sense of connection and belonging with others, we can then feel a greater sense of meaning and significance in our lives. In therapy, we acknowledge as therapists we are one part of your healing process and strive to help you identify and strengthen your own inner resources, younger parts, and strengthen healthy relationships in your life.

Inclusiveness

We work hard to create an inclusive environment through being mindful of our space and celebrating what makes each person unique. We acknowledge that there are racial disparities in the mental health field and commit to continuously doing our own work to disrupt systemic racism and promote cultural awareness as a team.
