Priscilla Leyva, LPC Associate

Hello and welcome! I am so happy you have landed on my page and honor your determination to find a therapist that is a good fit for your family. My name is Priscilla Leyva and I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in Austin, TX under the clinical supervision of Rosalie Piedra, LPC-S, RPT. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. While I am proud of my achievements, what has shaped my career the most is over six years of experience working with children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings such as clinics, schools, and homes. These settings have allowed me to also work with individuals diagnosed with ADHD, trauma, and anxiety. Other issues I have experience with include selective mutism, self-harm, low self-esteem or negative self-talk, and gender identity concerns. I also have experience incorporating virtual counseling with children and teens.

As a therapist, I use a person-centered approach, meaning your child will progress through counseling at a pace they are comfortable with. I value building rapport, trust, and collaboration with parents, and believe this is the foundation of my work with all clients. I honor that my therapeutic work with children and teens not only involves the child, but also the family. As a play therapist, I incorporate art therapy, music therapy, puppet therapy, sandtray therapy, and many other forms of healing! For older clients, I invite them to use a medium of their choice as we progress through talk therapy, where I use an integrative approach honoring all parts of them (culture, religion, gender identity, etc.). Alongside talk therapy, I incorporate somatic or mindfulness techniques, to begin building awareness of emotions and thus, more control of responses!
