“You deserve to be seen, heard, and supported. Healing begins with safety, and growth begins in connection.” – Dr. Thema Bryant.

Growing up, I always enjoyed listening to and supporting others. I was curious about why people behaved the way they did and how their life experiences shaped them. It wasn’t until high school that I discovered the world of psychology and was amazed by it. I realized that no matter how old or young we are, we all face different challenges at different stages of life. My curiosity and passion for understanding and helping others led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Texas State University in 2019.

The more I learned about psychology and ways to understand and help people achieve their goals and find healing, the more I felt drawn to be the person who walks alongside them on their challenging journeys. Before starting my career as a therapist, I held various roles that shaped me into the therapist I am today. These roles included supporting children with autism and their families as a registered behavior technician, working with low-income, first-generation high school students to help them set academic goals and navigate the college application process, and supporting children’s learning in the classroom. These experiences reinforced my passion for working with people of all ages, but deep in my heart, I knew I wanted to connect with them at a deeper level.

After gaining experience working with children, teens, adults, and their families, I pursued a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Texas State University in 2023, specializing in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy. During my clinical training, I had the privilege of providing counseling services through a non-profit organization, where I worked with children, teens, and families affected by abuse, utilizing trauma-informed therapy. Additionally, I have volunteered with Hope Hospice for the past two years, supporting many individuals on their journeys through grief and loss.

How I Work

As a family therapist, I have the honor of working with clients of all ages: children, adolescents, adults, and families who may be dealing with trauma and experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

When working with adults, I focus on creating a safe space where they can become aware of their feelings, learn to accept them, and use them to guide their healing. We work together to identify negative cycles where they might feel stuck and learn to transform these into positive interactions that lead to fulfilling relationships. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help adults restructure attachment patterns that are not helpful and find new, healthy ways to express love and connection. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach that helps adults process distressing trauma-related memories and improve their well-being.

My work with adolescents includes expressive arts activities, sand therapy, and mindfulness. I rely on trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) to help them process trauma, teaching them tools to reduce anxiety and learn to overcome negative thoughts. When working with adolescents, I incorporate family sessions to improve communication and strengthen the connection between parents and their teens.

When working with children, I use child-centered play therapy (CCPT), an approach that allows children to communicate their needs in their own language: play. I create a safe space where children can explore their thoughts and feelings, overcome their challenges, and increase their self-esteem. An essential part of working with children includes collaborating with their parents/caregivers. I incorporate parent-child relationship therapy (PCRT) to help parents feel empowered to strengthen their relationship with their children, learn to recognize and validate their feelings, and, at the same time, learn to problem-solve.

I enjoy spending time with my friends and family in my free time. I also love being outdoors, running, hiking, and watching movies.
