Rising 6th Grade Boys

Do you have a rising 6th grader who loves legos? Would you like your child to practice social navigation goals during the summer? If yes to either of these questions, we would love to have your child join this group! This group is for rising 6th grade boys (ages 10-11 years).
During the course of this 6 week group, your child will:

Identify their personal social navigation goals

Engage in collaborative problem-solving with other group members

Practice social communication skills with other group members

Experience a sense of community through fun, hands on projects that include legos!
WHEN: Weekly on Thursdays from 4:00pm- 5:00pm (July 11th – August 15th)
WHERE: In person at our south Austin location (8700 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78748)
AGE GROUP: 10-11 year old boys (rising 6th graders)

Social Navigation for Neurodivergent Teens!
Facilitated by Priscilla Leyva, LPC Associate
Supervised by Rosalie Piedra, LPC-S, RPT-S
We all have a need for social belonging and connection. For many neurodivergent youth, navigating social dynamics can be particularly challenging. This group aims to support neurodivergent teens through a supportive and inclusive space where participants will be guided through icebreakers and games to encourage social navigation with other group members. Snacks & fidgets will be provided, or participants can bring your own. Some themes our group will explore include:
- Social navigation and participants’ goals
- Healthy relationships
- Masking/unmasking
- Connecting through interests and games
Each session, our group will choose an activity to work on together -board games, creating sensory crafts, roleplaying scenarios, & more. These activities encourage self-expression, collaboration, creativity, & social connections with others. Participants are encouraged to bring items that may help them feel comfortable in this new environment Fidgets, blankets, or even your favorite home item.
WHEN: Weekly on Tuesdays from 12:00pm- 1:30pm (June 11th- August 9th)
