Gina Ko, LPC Associate

(She/Her/Hers)

“You deserve the opportunity for change, no matter where you are in life. Remember, you are not alone. We will work together to overcome challenges and cultivate resilience at a pace that feels right for you.”

Welcome! My name is Gina Ko and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) under the clinical supervision of Jane Godelia, LPC-S, LMSW. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, I began my professional career as a classroom teacher and had the privilege of teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 4th grade. Throughout my years as a teacher, I discovered my passion for addressing the diverse needs of children and families and supporting them on a more personal level. This realization led me to pursue a Master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I currently serve as the school counselor at Spicewood Elementary where I have been working with children and adults for the past 5 years. I have experience working in individual and group settings, addressing a diverse range of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, trauma, emotion management, grief, parenting, and self-esteem. In 2022, I received my Clinical Mental Health Counseling certificate from Lamar University, which allowed me to jumpstart my journey as a LPC-A. I am so excited to reach even more hearts at Mindful Connections Counseling.

My approach to therapy first begins by developing genuine and positive connections. I do this by validating your experiences and feelings with empathy, no matter your background. I provide a safe, trusting, and supportive space for children, teens, and adults to feel comfortable being themselves. I am intentional with my practice, while also allowing for lots of exploration and fun. I am client-centered and draw from cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused techniques. Along with talk-therapy, I also incorporate expressive art, mindfulness, and play therapy practices into my sessions. I conduct sessions both in-person and virtually, allowing you to decide what works best for your lifestyle.

There is incredible value in self-care and devoting time for yourself. During my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy taking advantage of beautiful weather and going for walks or playing tennis. I love traveling, eating, trying new restaurants, going to the movies, and relaxing at home or the spa.
