We often find that the therapeutic process can come with many questions, as every practice varies in their policies and procedures. We hope the FAQs below can be helpful as you begin your journey!
At our practice, we first request an initial 15-20 minute phone consultation with one of our clinical directors to hear more about your needs. During this phone call, we will recommend any therapists at our practice that we believe would be a good fit. If you would like to move forward during our phone call, we’ll immediately invite you to our client portal to fill out the intake forms and connect you with your therapist to set up the intake session.
Unfortunately, session fees vary by clinician and by the type of appointment. For our more experienced clinicians, the session fee is usually higher than our associates. Additionally, all our intake sessions range from $10-$25 more than ongoing session fees. This is due to the nature of the intake session. This session is typically longer than ongoing sessions and involves treatment planning by the therapist. Additionally, family session and group session fees vary by clinician, however this is all noted in the therapists’ informed consent.
We have a client portal where you can log in and view billing documentation, upcoming session appointments, and upload files. You can log into the client portal by visiting our website and clicking on “client portal” in the menu bar.
Absolutely! We find working with parents and caregivers extremely important. We typically request that the initial intake session is only with caregivers so that we can really get a thorough history of your child and family and begin treatment planning. Your child’s therapist might request monthly parent sessions to check in and provide resources or they might request that you join sessions.
Unfortunately, we do not provide weekly reports of our play therapy sessions. We believe that confidentiality is very important for the therapeutic relationship, even for our youngest clients. We do however provide themes from sessions to parents during our ongoing parent sessions and provide resources that can further support your child’s goals during our parent sessions.
We can provide a diagnosis for our clients, particularly our clients who are seeking insurance reimbursement or utilizing their insurance benefits. However, when providing a diagnosis, we must ensure our client fits the criteria for the assigned diagnosis and may recommend you seek further evaluation by a psychiatrist or a psychologist.
Unfortunately, we do not prescribe any medications. If we believe you may benefit from medication, we will refer you to a psychiatrist who has the medical training to support medication management.
You do not need a referral to see one of our providers. For most therapists, you do not need a referral and can reach out directly to each practice.
Unfortunately, we do not take walk-ins at MCC. We always want to talk to potential clients prior to scheduling a session to ensure we may be a good fit. Additionally, we require our clients to fill out our intake forms prior to the initial intake session.
Unfortunately we do not offer mental health evaluations. We always recommend clients visit Integral Care if located in Travis County or Bluebonnet Trails if located in Williamson County.
