“I truly believe that we all try to make the best decisions we we can with the information, skills, and strengths at our disposal. The ways we learn to survive – especially during painful and difficult experiences – are often rooted in the human need to feel safe, loved, and at peace. Even if our attempts to cope aren’t perfect – they deserve compassion and understanding. Your innate resilience will help you cultivate a life and coping system about more than just surviving, but thriving. “

Hello! Thank you for considering this meaningful step in your mental health journey. Whether this is your first time seeking support or a continuation of the work you’ve already begun, reaching out takes courage and vulnerability—and that deserves recognition. Therapy offers a space for growth, healing, and deeper self-understanding. Therapy is a collaborative process where we’ll explore your experiences, build on your unique strengths, and work toward the goals that matter most to you. Working from a Trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally responsive approach, my hope is to become a trusted person in your healing journey.

Experience

I began my career in mental health following the completion of my Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas. My initial clinical experience involved working with adolescents in a residential treatment setting specializing in anxiety and mood disorders. In my roles as a Mental Health Technician and Education Liaison, I provided direct support to clients experiencing severe depression, suicidality, self-harming behaviors, anxiety disorders, and various personality disorders. I went on to earn my Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education from the University of Texas at Austin. During my graduate training, I served as a teaching assistant for the “Mindfulness, Compassion, and Self” course, where I contributed to curriculum development and facilitated experiential learning interventions focused on contemplative practices. My clinical training included counseling internships at the Gender and Sexuality Center at UT Austin and at the Counseling Center at St. Edward’s University, where I provided therapy primarily to young adults navigating identity development, trauma, mood disorders, and relational concerns. Currently, I serve as a Primary Therapist at Recovery Unplugged, a trauma-informed residential treatment center in Austin, Texas. In this role, I provide individual and group therapy to adults across the lifespan, with a focus on addressing substance use disorders and co-occurring trauma. Here I have received psychological first aid training and am currently receiving my certification in RO-DBT.

Clients I Serve & My Therapeutic Approach

I hope to continue serving clients across the lifespan from adolescence into adulthood. My specific therapeutic skills are geared to best serve survivors of trauma, those of us with intersectionality marginalized identities, and those looking to cultivate self-confidence and self-efficacy in their lives. My therapeutic approach integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Polyvagal Theory-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
